Horse Rehab Comment

So I stand corrected on my smartass comment about the horse therapy posted on the 18. Please read below ...

"Sure it sounds ridiculous at first but what most people don't realize is that a horse has an identical stride to the human posture.  That is, proportionate to the size and mass of course.  This allows for patients to recondition their lumbar curve after a severe injury without putting unnecessary stress on the body.  When riding a horse in a seated position ones spine responds exactly as if it would while simply walking given the stride of that horse.  It is rather amazing in some respects.  If you actually look at riders (especially jumpers) they have the most immaculate posture.

They also often use equine therapy for kids who cannot walk or have been handicap from birth.  By riding they are able to use their spine and strengthen the lumbar curve which has proven to increase the possibilities of gaining mobility by the time that child is a teenager.  If this therapy is not utilized at a young age the spine will develop and hold a seated position preventing the child from ever being able to walk even if treatments cure the disability."
