Fern Adair Studios - Where the Audition Was Held
My night was not filled with sweet dreams and restful brainwave patterns. Nay, twas ridden with random awakenings and feelings of anxiety about the audition. Yes, my good blog readers, I, Christopher Oakley, was extremely nervous about this audition. =P However, so was Richard.. and as I found out later so was Chris and Rain ^_^ So anyway, we woke up and caught a cab over to the gymnastics center by 9am. The cab guy was really funny. He said he had picked up a lady at the airport yesterday who was going to the same auditions. He kind of made us less nervous which was cool. Too bad we didn't have a lot of money to tip him with. =/
So we get there and everyone is warming up in the main room. We get our pictures taken and fill out some paper work then head in. There ends up only being around 15 acrobats being tested during this time period. We start talking with some of them and they're all pretty nice. There were the two Chinese brothers who did tube contortion on Celebrity Circus, a funny Russian guy who does these auditions so he can help other people do them, a Mongolian contortionist named Chimge, two stern Russian guys (one is the hand balancer in Zumanity), a dancer/tumbler from NYC, two American guys who do duo acro and fabric and the son of the guy who runs Sandou Studios in Las Vegas (the circus training place).
It was a pretty relaxed audition. We didn't start until an hour after we got there. Everyone was really friendly (except the two Russian guys... no personality). The judges were the acrobatic directors for the show, a big Russian guy and a small Russian lady (who I later found out are married and were in Le Reve). We did the strength test first which was pretty easy. Then we had an acrobatic test so you tumbled up to your ability. Then the speciality acts had to perform a little something (that's me). The two Chinese brothers did their thing, the hand balancer was amazing, then I did some contortion stuff, then Chimge went. After that they let all the specialty acts go because apparently we didn't have to sing or dance which was fine with me. They said they'd be in contact about call backs. They have a lot more people to audition so we'll see.

I Wish I Had a PC So I Could Play This lol
Luckily Chimge the contortionist lives in Las Vegas and had a car and she was gracious enough to give me a ride back to the hotel. We bonded about all things contortion and got along really well. She's such a sweet heart and we're both just looking for a stable job =P We knew a lot of the same people which is always nice thing to talk about when you meet someone. She said he had been performing for over 25 years! Wow! She said she just couldn't imagine giving it up and taking up a desk job. Oh Chimge, I know exactly how you feel =)

It's...So...F*ing...Hot...Here...O...M...G...
Once I got back I was exhausted and HUNGRY! I took a shower then bolted it to Denny's across the street. Had a nice double boca burger and relaxed. Then I walked to Big Lots and got some epsom salts for my back... it was a little sore after doing contortion for the audition. Then I went back to the hotel and soaked for a while. I then fell asleep on the bed only to be awoken by Richard coming in with one of the guys from the audition... It was a little awkward for a second but the guy just needed to take a shower, I guess lol. We hung out the rest of the night until Chris came and picked me up after his show around midnight. It was nice to see him again and we went to his place and crashed because we were both exhausted.
The End
^_^
